QC / R&D Technician – R2 Sealant Systems
Location: Massillon, OH
Hours: Monday – Friday | Day Shift
Job Type: Full-time

Are you detail-oriented, curious, and eager to grow in a technical manufacturing environment? R2 Sealant Systems is hiring a QC / R&D Technician to support both our Quality Control and Research & Development teams. This hands-on role is ideal for candidates who enjoy problem-solving, working with data, and contributing to continuous improvement. Recent science graduates are encouraged to apply.


Job Summary

The QC / R&D Technician is a dual-function position supporting Quality Control activities (reporting to the Technical Director) and Research & Development initiatives (reporting to the Director of R&D). Initially, the role will focus approximately 75% on Quality Control and 25% on R&D, with R&D responsibilities increasing over time as the business grows. This evolving role offers strong opportunities for professional growth, technical development, and career advancement.


Key Responsibilities

Quality Control Responsibilities (Reporting to the Technical Director)

  • Conduct regular audits on fill lines, verifying materials against defined specifications

  • Perform 100% inspection of staged shipments prior to release

  • Gather and document color samples for customer shipping audits

  • Communicate corrective actions to operators to resolve quality issues

  • Notify Quality team members of potential or emerging issues

  • Ensure product retains are properly collected and stored

  • Verify all paperwork is complete, accurate, and compliant

  • Assist with quality investigations and prepare Non-Conforming Material (NCM) reports

  • Support material testing as needed due to workload, absences, or special requests

  • Assist with special projects, including rework initiatives

  • Prepare, package, and ship customer samples as required

R&D Responsibilities (Reporting to the Director of R&D)

  • Conduct research and support formulation development for hybrid, silicone, and latex chemistries

  • Participate in raw material qualification, evaluation, and documentation

  • Support cost-reduction projects, manufacturing improvements, and customer-specific formulations

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory, manufacturing, and quality standards

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to support technical development and decision-making


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field preferred

  • Recent graduates encouraged to apply

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities

  • Comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification to ensure accuracy and compliance

  • Ability to make decisions based on data, observations, and test results

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus, but not required
