R&D Technician – R2 Sealant Systems
Location: Massillon, OH
Hours: Monday – Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Job Type: Full-time

Are you a hands-on problem solver with a passion for science and innovation? R2 Sealant Systems is seeking a motivated R&D Technician to support product development and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a lab environment, analyzing data, and contributing to the advancement of high-quality sealant and adhesive products.


Position Summary

The R&D Technician is a dual-function role primarily supporting Research & Development (R&D) and secondarily supporting Quality Control (QC). This position plays a key role in formulation development, raw material evaluation, and process improvement while ensuring quality and compliance standards are met. The workload is approximately 90% R&D and 10% Quality Control.


Key Responsibilities

Research & Development

  • Conduct research and support formulation development for hybrid, silicone, and latex chemistries
  • Participate in raw material qualification, evaluation, and documentation processes
  • Support cost-reduction initiatives and manufacturing improvement projects
  • Assist with customer-specific formulation development and modifications
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, manufacturing, and quality standards
  • Scale laboratory formulations to full production
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to support technical decision-making

Quality Control

  • Notify Quality team members of potential or emerging issues
  • Assist in gathering data for quality investigations
  • Support material testing as needed based on workload or special requests
  • Assist with special projects, including rework initiatives
  • Prepare, package, and ship customer samples as required

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate of Science degree (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field) preferred
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to make decisions based on data, observations, and test results
  • Comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification to ensure accuracy and compliance
